About Me:
My name is J'Vaughn Johnson. I'm currently a sophomore studying Computer Science & Engineering. As the PCI (Pre-Collegiate Initiative) Chair Person for UConn NSBE.
Recent Experience(s):
I haven't done any research or internships yet, but right now I'm working on getting an internship for the summer of 2010 or doing research within the computer science field (artificial intelligence or computer security to be more specific).
List at least one major aspect you like about NSBE:
The networking opportunities and the workshops at the conferences.
What do you like best about of your current office position?
I was a NSBE Jr. member for one year but I had a great experience within that year; as PCI Chair I have the opportunity to make sure current NSBE Jr. members can have that same experience or even better.
What message would you like to give new and existing members?
NSBE is an organization with a great reputation but don't be an opportunist in the sense that you want to be apart of NSBE just to enhance your resume. Know the mission statement: "To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community", and then execute it.
