List at least one major aspect you like about NSBE:
There are so many amazing people in NSBE with such potential. There are so many opportunities within NSBE to network and expand your horizon There are always chances to help impact the community through food drives, tutoring and other community service initiatives. There is so much positive energy/ inspiration/ motivation in NSBE and so much you can learn from the other members. Aside from all of these AMAZING aspects of NSBE, what I like best is that NSBE helps you to grow as a person, both academically and socially. Since I joined back as a freshman, NSBE has helped me become a stronger leader and a better student and I am eternally grateful for that.
What do you like best about of your current office position?
The thing I like best about being the vice president of such an amazing organization is that I am able to help to ensure our chapter’s survival and strength for the year. My vision for NSBE is that it will continue to expand and grow stronger in every aspect of our mission "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers, who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community."
What message would you like to give new and existing members?
First off, I’d like to congratulate all of the new members for taking the initiative to become a part of such an amazing national organization. Secondly, I’d like to encourage all of you to become as active in NSBE as you can in order to enjoy the full benefits of being a member. As for the existing members, I’d like to say welcome back! I commend you all for joining NSBE in the first place and for sticking with it! For all members….I’d like to say GOOD LUCK with your academics this year and remember that that NSBE is here to support you through all that you do!
Favorite Quote:
My favorite quote is the following by Marianne Williamson. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?... As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
