Obtaining Torchbearer and Jr. Torchbearer Status

Greetings NSBE Members! This message is a brief update of the process for obtaining TorchBearer and Jr. TorchBearer (PCI) status and for submitting your official transcript for TorchBearer and Scholarships.

Please send in your membership ID number along with your transcript.

TORCHBEARER AND JR. TORCHBEARER

NSBE TorchBearer and Jr. TorchBearer status is granted to members that meet the following CONFIRMED Cumulative GPA requirements:

• Collegiate Undergraduate Members - 3.2 Cumulative GPA minimum
• Collegiate Graduate Student Members - 3.6 Cumulative GPA minimum
• NSBE Jr. Members - B+ Average or higher
• Alumni Graduate Student members are ineligible for TorchBearer status

TorchBearers and Jr. TorchBearers receive the following benefits:

• Discounted Convention Registration - TorchBearer and Jr. TorchBearer Rates
• Recognition of your status with Career Fair Participants and Corporate Sponsors
• Certificate of Recognition
• Lapel Pin
• Lost lapel pins can be replaced for a fee.

The Process:

When completing your membership on NSBE Online, you should have self-declared your current cumulative GPA in the Membership Module. If you plan to apply for scholarships, you are required to list your self-declared GPA in the "Common Scholarships Information" section of the Scholarship Module on NSBE Online as well.

If your self-declared GPA meets the requirements listed above, you should receive an automatic email notification regarding your "pending" TorchBearer or Jr. TorchBearer status. The email notification will instruct you to forward your most current official transcript to the address listed below so that World HQ Programs can "confirm" your GPA.

Once your official transcript is received, we will enter your CONFIRMED GPA in your NSBE Online record and mark your TorchBearer/Jr. TorchBearer status as ACTIVE. You should then receive an email confirmation that you have official TorchBearer Status.

And that's it!!! No extra forms to complete, just ONE official copy of your transcript. That same transcript can also be used for ALL of your scholarships submissions as well!

One official copy of your current transcript should be mailed to the following address:

You need only send ONE official transcript to cover your TorchBearer GPA verification and ALL scholarship submissions. Please note, we will place your CONFIRMED CUMULATIVE GPA for EACH TERM in your NSBE Online record. The GPA we list will be the CUMULATIVE GPA as of the end of THAT TERM. You should only be listing CUMULATIVE GPAs per term in your record, not TERM GPAs. All GPAs are confirmed on a 4.0 scale. GPAs submitted on other scales are converted to the 4.0 scale.

PLEASE ALLOW 2 - 4 WEEKS for your TORCHBEARER STATUS and CONFIRMED GPAS to be posted to your NSBE Online account.

During the 2004-05 Program Year, the National Convention Early Bird TorchBearer registration rate will not be available to college FRESHMEN. Freshmen should submit their Fall 2004 transcripts to verify TorchBearer status once grades are availa

NOTICE TO CONVENTION PARTICIPANTS: To select the TORCHBEARER or JR TORCHBEARER registration options for the National Convention through NSBE Online, members MUST have been confirmed for TorchBearer status BEFORE registering for the convention. Those members that registration for the convention before obtaining TorchBearer status are NOT eligible to receive a refund of the difference in convention rate paid and the TorchBearer rate.
